For every Ukrainian who crossed the border due to the war, there is a longing for the feeling of home. Where loved ones are nearby, where you can hear your native language, where you feel support and freedom. After all, we had all of this at home.
The Ukrainian center VDOMA is a space in Nyon for Ukrainian families to socialize, communicate, and learn. There are activities for children and adults, a cup of tea and a cozy corner to get some rest and for conversations. It is a place where every Ukrainian can feel comfortable and, even if just a little, like at home.
VDOMA is located in the Maison de Quartier de la Redoute: Chemin de la Redoute 12, 1260 Nyon. We thank the city of Nyon for this cozy space!

SupportSupport Ukrainian traditions and integration

Celebrating and passing on Ukrainian traditions to our children who are growing up far from their homeland is an integral part of VDOMA's life.
VDOMA also promotes cultural exchange between the Ukrainian and Swiss communities. We strive for the Swiss to better understand Ukrainians, who now make up a significant portion of the population in Switzerland. With respect for Swiss traditions, we aim to open up Ukrainian culture to them.
We also organize informational sessions for Ukrainians about events happening in Switzerland (elections, politics, social issues) and workshops on resume building and job searching to assist Ukrainians in integrating and better understanding the country that has welcomed us home.

HelpUkraine from Switzerland

An integral part of our work is providing assistance to Ukraine. Each of us can make a contribution.
We implement various initiatives, including "Warm the Defender," where our craftswomen knit warm items and VDOMA coordinates their shipment to the front-line territories.
Additionally, a portion of the donations to the center goes towards supporting initiatives in Ukraine that provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population and military medics on the front lines/ warm clothing, medical kits, food supplies, communication, and more.

Our Team

We are a team of Ukrainian volunteers. Some of us came to Switzerland because of the war, some of us have been living here for a long time.
We have different backgrounds and life paths, but our common goal is building the sence of community amongst ukrainians here, preservation of Ukrainian traditions, promotion of integration and cultural exchange with the Swiss community, as well as help to Ukraine during this hardest period.

I was born and raised in Ukraine and have been living in Switzerland since 2015. Project management, marketing, and communications.

Tetiana Allgower

As a mother of three children, it is very important for me that my kids have the opportunity to communicate in our language, not forget about Ukrainian culture, develop, and integrate. We are very grateful to Switzerland for providing us temporary shelter. As parents, we work very hard to find jobs and understand the culture and traditions of the country that welcomed us. But we all miss our homeland. VDOMA space is a place where we can grow, be among our own people, and integrate.

I am a Ukrainian woman who has been living in Switzerland for a long time. My 4-year-old daughter knows that she is half Ukrainian, but she has not been to Ukraine and it is not known when we will go. We need a place in Nyon where Ukrainian children growing up far away from their homeland could have a small corner of Ukraine. They would hear Ukrainian language, expand their knowledge of our traditions, and grow up keeping in touch with Ukraine. We also actively promote Ukrainian culture in Switzerland. And most importantly, we engage donors and help Ukraine from Switzerland.

I am a mother of a 4-year-old daughter who was born in Switzerland and I don't know when she can visit Ukraine. When we created this center, i was making it for her – so that she and kids like her, could have a place to play and communicate, to hear and learn our language, to learn about our traditions grow up maintaining a connection with Ukraine.
